Wrong Patch
Rosana Lynne Welter
"Wrong Patch" came from this pandemic time when simply everything in my life, maybe in yours too, is out of whack. Politics are not helping but exacerbating so many already bad situations. Friends are sick and have died. People are out of work, out of food, facing homelessness. Race is still an issue. At first glance this quilt seems politely traditional, but it is not. Raw edges curl, politically colored threads and stones sprout, quilting zigs and spirals, sizes are inconsistent, fabrics are wrong sided, stitching is rough, and placement is imperfect-a tiny, quiet protest to so much gone wrong and too many lost.
